NEW YORK, NY – April 21, 2011 – W Hotels Worldwide today announced the latest stops for Symmetry Live, the hotel group’s ongoing live concert series that showcases what’s new and next in music. Curated by W’s Global Music Director, Michaelangelo L’Acqua, Symmetry Live features intimate, live performances at W Hotels across the country.  The 2011 lineup kicks off this evening at W San Francisco with an exclusive live performance by acclaimed British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding.  The series will then travel to W Hotels in New York City, Chicago, Austin, Fort Lauderdale and Atlanta for exciting performances to be announced throughout the year.

“Music has always been an integral part of the W experience,” said Carlos Becil, Vice President, North American Brand Management for W Hotels.  Symmetry Live not only provides a great platform for supporting emerging artists in the U.S. but also offers insider access to what’s new and next in music for both our guests and locals alike.”

L’Acqua chose to name the series Symmetry to demonstrate the balance between the distinct sounds of each artist and how they represent the symmetry between the W lifestyle, its worldwide destinations and international guests.  “In selecting the acts for Symmetry Live, I seek out artists that offer the world a new and interesting point of view in music, those who push the envelope of style and sound in a way that adds to the overall W experience,” said L’Acqua.

W Hotels launched Symmetry Live in May 2010 with an exclusive, high-energy set by Janelle Monae on the rooftop of W Hollywood, followed by a dynamic poolside performance in July at W South Beach by then emerging group Neon Trees.  In November 2010, W New York hosted Cee Lo Green’s first live U.S. performance of tracks from his smash album The Lady Killer, including the ultra-popular single “F**K You.” In addition, portions of Green’s music video for his chart-topping single “Bright Lights Bigger City” were shot at the hotel.

Symmetry Live is the evolution of W’s live music programming that began in 2008 as Wonderlust Live, featuring performances by artists such as Daniel Merriweather, Peter Bjorn and John, The Gossip, Pete Yorn, Natasha Bedingfield, and more.  W Hotels has long had ties to music, from the launch of its popular compilation CD soon after the brand debuted in New York in 1998 to ongoing DJ performances in the Living Rooms (W’s take on the traditional hotel lobby) of its hotels worldwide, among other musical happenings.

About Ellie Goulding

Already a success in her native England, 24 year-old UK singer and songwriter Ellie Goulding has already conquered her native Britain with the best selling debut album of 2010, Lights -- premiering at No. 1 on the U.K. album chart, four hit singles she co-wrote, and a BRIT award -- singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding is ready to make a similar splash in America with her sparkling electro-folk-pop sound.  Lights, as the New York Times put it, “is a happy car crash of signifiers: part electro-pop, part soul, part blues, part indie rock, part folk” that mixes heartfelt emotion with other-worldly atmospherics and the Los Angeles Times raved, “she can reel off some powerful drum and guitar chops and her voice is a serious and sure instrument in person.”  Rolling Stone called Lights, “sweet, sexed-up folktronica.”  For more information, visit
