St. Regis Hotels & Resorts Hosts the Opening International Match of the Polo Season

May 19th, 2011 – St. Regis Hotels & Resorts will host the fourth annual St. Regis International Cup on Saturday May 21st 2011 at Cowdray Park Polo Club in partnership with American Express and The Lanesborough, St. Regis’ London flagship hotel; and, for the first time, Jaeger-LeCoultre, the Official Timekeeper of Cowdray Park Polo Club celebrating 80 years of its iconic Reverso timepiece. This year’s 28 goal polo test match - the first match in the UK International Series - is set to be the most exciting yet, as the Audi England team takes on the Jaeger-LeCoultre South America team.
St. Regis Connoisseur 6 goal Nacho Figueras, will accompany Jaeger-LeCoultre’s brand ambassador Eduardo Novillo Astrada (currently ranked as 9 goals) who is captaining the South America team. The England 28 goal team, captained by Luke Tomlinson includes his acclaimed brother Mark Tomlinson as well as Satnam Dhillon and James Beim.

VIP guests will be invited to watch the day’s match from St. Regis’ hospitality marquee where they will be treated to the brand’s signature rituals such as legendary St. Regis afternoon tea and St. Regis’ signature cocktail, the Bloody Mary, first concocted at The St. Regis New York over 75 years ago. Following the match, Jaeger-LeCoultre will host a gala dinner and live auction in aid of The James Wentworth Stanley Memorial Fund. Evening events boast a menu curated by Paul Gayler executive chef de cuisine at The Lanesborough, a St.Regis Hotel, as well as cocktails and dancing crafted by Charlie Gilkes and his team at 80’s inspired club Maggies.
